Few couples have celebrated more than the 80th anniversary and we have yet to find a couple who have celebrated an anniversary higher than the 85th together.

We currently believe that a Taiwanese couple who celebrated their 86th anniversary together in 2003 hold the record for the longest married couple in the world, they beat the previous record of 83 years by a couple from America. In Australia the longest marriage on record is that of Wesley Arney (Wes) and his wife Vanetta who in 2003 celebrated their 79th anniversary unfortunately Wes passed away the same year. A brief news story on their marriage is available here.
